Dear Friends,
“These are the soldiers who gave Israel “Peace of Mind”. So, friends, it is our duty to help them find their Peace of Mind”. (Rabbi Jonathan Sacks)
I am writing to you today to ask for your support for an important cause…the launch of a new program in San Diego designed to assist veterans of elite combat units of the IDF.
The initiative, called Peace of Mind, is a nine month long program that facilitates the emotional and psychological healing of elite IDF combat veterans who have experienced difficult battle situations.
A two day orientation session takes place before participants spend one week overseas. There they receive 40 hours of group sessions and time to bond with the Jewish community. Upon their return to Israel, the veterans participate in several follow up sessions and are offered six months of individualized therapy.
Peace Of Mind (POM) is coming to San Diego in December , 2019 where the veterans will be hosted by Chabad of Carmel Valley.
The privilege of hosting these exceptional young men is open to ALL CONGREGATIONS who share a love of Israel and a desire to have a hands on experience with veterans in their homes and in their communities.
Due to the need for POM, a substantial subsidy has been made available for new communities until the end of 2020 which cuts the usual cost of the program ($65,000) by 50% for a community’s inaugural year.
The benefit to both participants and those who have the privilege of hosting the veterans is considerable as it profoundly changes the lives of the participants, creates important, life long bonds between Israeli and Disaspora Jews and encourages congregational engagement.
There are currently 127 teams of released combat soldiers waiting in line for this critical program. With your help we can keep those who fight for Israel, strong.
Together, we can help to bring to peace of mind to heroes of the IDF.
